We are delighted to welcome milliner Laura Kinsella to the Grafton Academy for our series of upcoming summer classes. Laura creates individual and abstract hats and headpieces, by traditional technique. Her accessories label has a contemporary aesthetic combined with a delicacy and finesse that focuses on craftsmanship.
An alumna of LSAD, the Irish milliner honed her skills around the globe working in womenswear in Melbourne and Mexico City before returning to Ireland to specialise in millinery and work with Philip Tracey.
Since beginning her own label in 2013 Laura has been crowned Breakthrough Designer of the Year in 2014, Milliner of the Year 2015 at Kerry Fashion Week, and has been featured in CREATE, Brown Thomas Dublin. Laura has collaborated with renowned Irish designer Danielle Romeril. Notably During ID2015 she was invited by the British Fashion Council to exhibit at the International Fashion Showcase at London Fashion Week.
This is a great opportunity for budding milliner to learn from such an accomplished designer. Our classes are small so teaching is by individual attention covering all of the bases of how to make, trim, and finish a range of headwear styles.
Don’t miss out. The series of courses begins with an intensive 4 day course using straws (sinamay) on Monday 17th June to Thursday 20th June. Classes are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and are priced at €380. Following on from that there will be a felt course starting Monday August 26th to Thursday August 29th.
