10 Week Introduction to Buying
This comprehensive industry-specific 10 week course will give you a commercially focused understanding of the role of a fashion buyer, both in high volume textile sourcing and branded selection. The course is led by an experienced fashion buyer from a major Irish retail company.
Over the 10 weeks, you will explore the skills and knowledge of a fashion buyer. Realistic assignments will give you opportunity to explore customer behavior analysis, market share analysis, trend forecasting and range planning. You will explore garment sourcing and production, price negotiation, logistics and stock management.

I came across the Buying & Merchandising course in Grafton Academy of Fashion Design while researching different avenues of study. I felt I might have an interest in the world of buying, but didn’t know where to start. From day one, I knew I had made the right choice to apply for the course. The lecturer’s Catherine and Ann-Marie brought with them a wealth of knowledge and resources. They also provided amazing support in such a strange and difficult time to study from home. I now feel I have a strong foundation to jump from the course and into a buying office to build on the skills I developed over the duration of my time with The Grafton Academy.
