Our Short Design courses are excellent for the person who wants to learn how to construct their own patterns and sew their own designs, beginning with skirts, trousers, tops or a simple dress. Further modules can be taken according to the student’s requirements, to build up skills and techniques.
These Fashion Design courses are flexible to suit your preference, evenings, weekdays and Saturdays. Teaching is by individual attention within a classroom environment to cater for different skill levels from beginners to advanced.
An initial booking of 15 consecutive classes is required. For those students who wish to develop their pattern making and sewing skills, further modules can be booked in advance throughout the year. Students may choose to book for more than one session per week. To undertake the Diploma course by evenings, special application with portfolio by evenings can be made after a year of regular attendance with satisfactory progress.
This 10 week course is for those who wish to learn how to design, make patterns and sew.
These courses are suitable for those on a career or educational break and to gain an insight into Fashion Design as a career or for those who simply want to design and make for themselves. An ideal way to try out the course before making a bigger commitment to the Diploma course. All ages welcome.
An A4 pad, pen, pencil, eraser, plastic set-square (approx. 28cm on longest side) tape measure, scissors, dressmaking pins, tracing wheel, sellotape. Pattern making paper, calico and bobbins can be purchased at the Grafton Academy. Fabric etc is required for making up projects.
