FASHION DESIGN COURSE

Our Fashion Design courses are excellent for the person who wants to learn how to construct their own patterns and sew their own designs, beginning with skirts, trousers, tops or a simple dress. Further modules can be taken according to the student’s requirements, in order to build up skills and techniques. These Fashion Design courses are flexible to suit your preference.

DRESSMAKING COURSE

The Dressmaking course is perfect for the person who wishes to learn how to use a commercial pattern. Beginners are advised to choose a simple pattern of a skirt, trousers or simple dress to enable them to learn basic sewing techniques, while students at a more advanced level may choose a more complicated pattern e.g; suit or coat but would need more than one week.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

FASHION DESIGN: An A4 pad, pen, pencil, eraser, plastic set-square (approx. 28cm on longest side), tape measure, scissors, dressmaking pins, tracing wheel, sellotape. Pattern making paper, calico and bobbins can be purchased at the Grafton Academy. Fabric etc is required for making up projects.

DRESSMAKING: Commercial pattern to your nearest measurements, fabric, tape measure, dressmaking pins, fabric scissors, paper scissors, hand sewing needles. threads, seam ripper, any other requirements of the pattern, e.g. a zip, lining etc. Teaching is by individual attention within a classroom environment in order to cater for different skill levels. Ideal for beginners to advanced, young or mature.

No previous experience is required. Please note that courses require materials.
